I Will Not Write About Deadly Premonition.

MIT Tech TV

I've been putting off posting about Deadly Premonition for weeks, even though it's a game I've been obsessing about. There's a lot I'd like to say, and I may write about it in the future, but for now I'll just post a link to a talk I gave about the game at MIT. A friend of mine, Generoso Fierro, recorded the "lecture" (really just an improptu rant) and posted it online at MIT Tech TV. A lot of it is what I would have said in a blog post anyway, so here it is.

(Incidentally, if you're not into watching a 40 minute talk there's a pretty good text summary of what I said here.)

  1. Hey Matt!

Great to see we share perspectives on Deadly Premonition!

It is with pride that I can say I got to the end of that tale. It wasn't easy, but the game, despite its many flaws, definitely comes as a very engaging and eccentric experience. The world is one of these extremely positive examples and I get the impression that what the game most likely lacks is polish (although I also recognize this absence constitutes a big part of the game's personality).

I remember playing it non-stop to get to the end of story and as bizarre as all of it felt, it was a worthwhile investment.

    Keep up the critiques! :)

    Cheers!
